Holiday Luminary 5K and Walk
Race tentative Date: December 5th, 2020
PR Racing, the Ventnor Municipal Drug Awareness Alliance, the Enlightenment Cafe, and the Ventnor Holiday Parade Committee have partnered to bring you this new evening event. The race begins at 4pm at the intersection of Atlantic and New Haven Aves, Ventnor, NJ 08406.
This race brought all of the aforementioned entities together with the hopes of raising awareness for addiction and the devastating affects it has on every community. Every year, 192 people die everyday in this country from a drug overdose. That number equates to 70,000 people a year. The seating capacity of the Link Stadium is approximately 70,000 people to give you a point of reference. The 192 Luminaries that you run by this evening represent that group of people have lost their lives to drug/opioid addiction Proceeds benefit are drug rehabilitation programs within Atlantic County.
Race and Parade Time Line
Registration: 2:30pm – 3:45pm @ Ventnor Coffee, 108 N. Dorset Ave, Ventnor, NJ 08406
Parking: Custard’s Last Stand, Annette’s Cafe, or on legal street parking. Do not park anywhere on the race course.
The Course: 3.5 laps traversing Ventnor Ave, South Cornwall Ave, Atlantic Ave , and South New Haven Ave.
Starting Line: 4pm @ Ventnor and Portland Aves
Finish Line: New Haven and Ventnor Aves. All athletes and walkers must complete the course by 5:00pm
Awards: 5:00pm Top 3 Overall Male & Female, 3 deep in each age group (10 years increments).
Parade Start: 5:00pm Ventnor Ave @ Derby Aves.
Parade Finish: 6:30pm Ventnor Ave @ Avolyn Ave
Runners are encouraged to run in a Santa’s suit, or a reasonable facsimile, color themed outfit of Red and White, an ugly Christmas/Holiday sweater or other seasonal festive garb.
